NHS worker and Liberal Democrat MEP Jane Brophy has warned that critical health issues are being overshadowed because of 'reckless and irresponsible political turmoil'.
Patients who cannot eat due to medical reasons have told said they are petrified and fear for their lives after NHS England described a manufacturing issue as a national emergency.
Lib Dem Health Committee Lead Jane Brophy MEP said:
“Patients who cannot eat for medical reasons are kept alive by TPN but we are so distracted by Brexit that we are not focusing on critical issues like this, caused by a bacterial contamination problem at the factory.
“Brexit, and certainly a no-deal Brexit, just adds to the worries of patients with long-term conditions who need medicine such as TPN and insulin.
“Political turmoil is not an excuse to ignore this crisis – it's reckless and irresponsible.”
